iPhone & iPad

Safari

Safari does not show automatic install prompts, so we take the manual route — it takes about 30 seconds.

  1. Open the site in Safari

    Visit indianmuslimfounders.org in Safari — not inside another app’s built-in browser.

  2. Tap the Share button

    Tap the square-with-an-up-arrow Share icon in Safari’s toolbar.

  3. Choose “Add to Home Screen”

    Scroll the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.

  4. Tap Add

    Name the app if you like, then tap Add in the top-right corner. IMFN is now on your home screen.

Android

Chrome

Chrome often offers an automatic “Install app” prompt — if you missed it, these steps always work.

  1. Open the site in Chrome

    Visit indianmuslimfounders.org in the Chrome browser.

  2. Open the Chrome menu

    Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome.

  3. Tap “Install app”

    Choose Install app (or Add to Home screen on some devices).

  4. Confirm with Install

    Tap Install in the dialog — the app lands on your home screen in seconds.

Desktop

Chrome / Edge

On a laptop or desktop, install IMFN so it opens in its own window with its own taskbar icon.

  1. Click the install icon in the address bar

    In Chrome or Edge, look for the monitor-with-download icon on the right side of the address bar.

  2. Choose Install

    Click Install — IMFN opens standalone, offline-capable, pinned like any other app.

Is the app free?

Yes. IMFN is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — there is no app store, no download fee, and no account required. It is part of the open-source initiative.

Do I need the app to use the site?

No. The website works fully in your browser. Installing just adds a home-screen icon, faster launch, and offline access.

Does the app work offline?

Core pages are cached by the service worker, so the app shell and visited pages stay reachable offline. Live visitor stats need a connection.

Why is there no app in the App Store or Play Store?

A PWA covers the community’s needs today and stays fully open source — no store fees, no approval gates. The roadmap tracks a native app for the future.
